Chester Playhouse to reopen again with $400,000 provincial investment

It won’t be much longer before the Chester Playhouse will be up and running again.

“The Playhouse is a staple of our community,” said MLA Barkhouse. “Chester’s wonderful community kept this landmark thriving prior to the fire, and I look forward to seeing what the future holds for this important arts venue when it is restored.”

$400,000 of provincial money will help repair the landmark after a fire caused extensive damage in 2021.

It’s been entertaining the community since 1939 and although the Playhouse itself has been closed, the organization has carried on presenting events in and around the community. They will continue to do so, until the building reopens this summer.

MLA Danielle Barkhouse says she looks forward to seeing what the future holds.

It’s one of the 11 organizations across the province to receive $15.5 million for new or upgraded infrastructure.
