Lower Sackville man arrested for hate crime toward Bedford woman

A Lower Sackville man has been arrested over a hate crime toward a 21-year-old Bedford woman.

It happened outside the public library on Sackville Dr, Monday afternoon around 12:15 pm, when a man approached the woman who was wearing a hijab.

He threatened her as she left the building.

She was not physically injured, but after seeing security footage and speaking to a witness, officers arrested the 53-year-old man.

RCMP say investigators believe the threats were motivated by hate based on religion.

The man has been released based on conditions and is scheduled to appear in court June 26 for uttering threats.
