Deputy Mayor slams province on public housing crisis

Halifax’s Deputy Mayor is slamming the province on the housing crisis.

In a lengthy twitter post, Sam Austin says our population has grown 140,000 since 1995, yet there have been no additional public housing units since then.

He accuses the PC’s of not increasing supply where there is a great need.

Ausin adds according to the Auditor General there were close to 2500 people on HRM’s housing waitlist in 2022.

The current average wait time, is a little more than two years.
