Container used in “Geocaching” had RCMP evacuate homes in Greenwood, call in bomb squad

A container used in “Geocaching” caused an evacuation in Greenwood.

Just before 10 this monring there was a report of something suspicious sitting on a trail in the woods near Oak Avenue and Fales River Drive.

RCMP secured the area, evacuated homes and had others sheltering in place.

The bomb squad was called in to safely dispose of the device.

Officials ask the public not to use containers resembling explosive devices unattended, when engaging in recreational activities.
