A Different Angle

There are nights I think I need some sort of turntable for my house. So I can rotate the entire place and watch the world from my bedroom window. Last night was one of those nights.

I know not everyone got to see any rain last night, but we did where I was. Not just rain, but thunder and lightening and fun stuff like that.

I am one of those people who will actually get up to watch lightening. I find it fascinating as it flashes across the sky. But last night was not the right night.

Maybe it was too far away. Maybe it just wasn’t at the right angle. You just couldn’t see it. A couple times you could sort of see the sky get a bit lighter so you knew there was lightening out there somewhere, but you couldn’t see the actual flash across the sky.

There has been the promise of lightening over the past few days. The weather has been right. Humid and hot. Just right for a few good flashes. But they haven’t come. And neither has any much needed rain along with it.

Last night we got a bit of that rain. Again, I know not everyone did. And we certainly didn’t get as much as we needed. I’m not sure I will be able to avoid watering the garden because of the rain we got. In fact, it’s pretty likely I will still have to drag the hose across the lawn. And what little bit of rain we did get probably just ran off, since the ground is pretty hard and dry.

I know not everyone is a fan of lightening. At least my dog doesn’t care. She hates fireworks with a passion so you might think the thunder would also upset her, but no. Thunder has no effect.

One of the cats joined me at the window, possibly thinking there might be birds to watch, but when there was nothing of any interest, he wandered off as well.

It really wasn’t much of a show. Or much of a rain. A bit disappointing all the way around. At least from my vantage point.

Maybe if I could have swung the window around to a different angle it might have been better.
