Every county in Nova Scotia is currently under a heat warning, after experiencing nearly two weeks of prolonged rainfall.
The temperatures around Nova Scotia vary from the mid to high twenties however Environment Canada Meteorologist Ian Hubbard says that the humidity is really what’s taking the heat up to dangerous levels.
“There are two main factors driving the humidity, one is the high-pressure system currently sitting over us which has hot moist air, then you add in all the water on the ground that’s been evaporating with the heat and you get the high levels of humidity we’ve been experiencing,” Hubbard said.
Hubbard expects heat warnings will likely remain in place for most of the province through Saturday.
“We’re expecting a weak low pressure in the south end of the province that will bring some cooler temperatures, fog, and a chance for rainfall that will start Sunday and continue for most early next week,”.
Three communities tied for the highest temperatures experienced on Thursday with Bedford, Greenwood, and Kentville which all at times felt like 35 with the humidity.
