Anticipation high as Eagles prepare for second round

Cape Breton is showing love to their junior hockey team.

The Eagles are in the second round of the QMJHL playoffs for the first time since 2019.

Local sports commentator Dave Curnew says it’s a great time to be an Eagles fan.

“You can see the crowds slowly starting to grow. It was great to be in the building for the first round against Rimouski, and feel that atmosphere. The chat around town is all about the Eagles,” said Curnew.

A sell-out is anticipated at Centre 200 for Game 1 of their series against Chicoutimi on Friday night.

“Look for big support from the city, and for another great round of hockey. Both teams have similar skill sets,” added Curnew.

Curnew says the two teams match-up well, and he wouldn’t be surprised to see a seven game series.
