Applications Open For Provincial Seniors Care Grant

New help for seniors in our province.

Applications for the Seniors Care Grant opened on December 1st.

It’s a $500 grant to help with household services like snow removal, grocery delivery, lawn care and small home repairs.

Minister of Seniors and Long-Term Care Barbara Adams, a physiotherapist who has worked with seniors for over 40 years, says this will help many families.

“When they start looking at not being able to stay at home, it’s because things become too difficult for them to do, or they have to rely on their family members to help. To me, this is really really important, so that they can stay at home, which is where they’d rather be,” says Adams.

Applicants must be over 65 and have a household income of $37,500 or less.

They must also live independently, own a home and have paid for household services since January of this year.

The deadline to apply is May 31st.
