Are There More Raccoons?

They are annoying in many ways, but there’s also something cute about them. I have a regular visitor. A raccoon. He comes by, gets the dog excited, gets chased up a tree, and then we all go about our business. It’s a regular thing.

I have no idea why. I have no garbage or compost lying around. I stopped feeding the birds because of that disease going around. There’s nothing that could be considered food to my knowledge. Yet almost every night, there’s the raccoon.

It seems like he shows up just to annoy the dog. Maybe the trash panda likes the adrenaline rush of having to quickly climb a tree before the silly create bounding around and woofing can even figure out where he has gone. All I know is, there seems to be no shortage of these things.

In fact, it almost seems they have taken over from the once ever present porcupine as the most common thing to see “taking a nap” alongside our highways. Do you think there are more raccoons around lately?
