At Least We Can Dream

It’s that time of year. A bit on the chilly side. A bit on the snowy side some days. A good day to sit back with a good book. Or maybe a good seed catalogue.

Maybe it’s not time that we can actually get out into the garden, but we can start making plans, which is almost as good.

I have a few seeds set aside from last year I want to try. A couple different squashes that have been consumed over the past months that I kept seeds from and want to try. A few others that I collected last fall that I want to include somewhere. And there are the usual suspects I want to make sure are included, like my various tomatoes.

And there are always a few flowers and plants I like to think about trying in the garden. I may not ever get around to put them in, but they’re fun to think about.

That’s usually the first step. Sit around at this time of year, looking though seed catalogues and websites, thinking about different plants and vegetables and flowers and thinking about where I might be able to fit them in the garden. Most of the time I have good intentions, but then run out of time.

But it is fun to dream. And just thinking about getting out in the garden somehow makes me feel warmer.
