AtlanTICK Grateful For NSBI Award Nomination

A Mahone Bay company trying to help people protect themselves from ticks was nominated for an export achievement award.

AtlanTICK was up for Business of Diversity Champion of the Year by Nova Scotia Business Inc.

Although they didn’t win, CEO Lisa Ali Learning says it is nice to be recognized.

“I think it really shows how much determination and passion that we have to move this forward. It’s really grown quite fast,” says Ali-Learning.

“Being nominated for this export award just gives us that reassurance that we’re doing the right thing and headed in the right direction.”

Lisa Ali Learning created AtlanTick in 2016 after her two boys developed Lyme disease from ticks.

She partnered with Acadia University and developed a body spray that repelled up to 80 per cent of tested ticks.

Ali-Learning says they have rebuilt their formula to 97.5% effective and are trying to get Health Canada approval to sell the product as a tick spray.
