Barrington High School Closed As RCMP Investigate Shooting Threat

Students at Barrington Municipal High School were asked to stay home on Wednesday after a student received threats of a shooting online.

RCMP became aware of the threat on Tuesday while classes were in session, it was determined at that time that classes could safely continue.

“The threat made wasn’t for the day it was received so when we learned about it we dispatched officers to monitor the school for the day,” said RCMP Cpl. Chris Marshall.

A post on the school’s Facebook page announced the closure for Wednesday, indicating the decision was made by the Tri-County Regional Centre for Education in consultation with the RCMP.

Currently, no decision has been made on when the school will reopen.
