Better Business Bureau Atlantic is warning consumers of a fraudulent toy company.
The website advertises great deals on some of the season’s hottest toys, including L.O.L. Surprise Dolls, Baby Yoda, Nintendo Switch and the PlayStation 5.
Kristin Matthews, Marketing and Communications Manager for BBB serving the Atlantic Provinces says their scam tracker received numerous reports about Pine Toys Canada Services.
“We received around ten reports in one week about this online toy company, which prompted us to launch an investigation into the company,” says Matthews.
She says people said they saw it through a Google ad, and many reported losing hundreds of dollars, and never received their merchandise.
“After they tried to contact the company, they became unreachable. So essentially, they are taking your personal information and your money, while never actually delivering a product.”
Matthews says the company claims to be located in St. John’s, Newfoundland, but the BBB confirmed they aren’t registered with the province.
She reminds online shoppers to be wary of scams, and to make sure they’re purchasing items from reputable organizations.
