I am the worst person I know for getting the words wrong to songs – not sure if this is because I play a lot of songs in my job, or if it’s just a disconnect between the brain and the ears.
I swear Deep Purple are singing “Joe call the plumber, the basement’s flooding” in Smoke on the Water.
For me, Christmas songs are the worst for getting the lyrics wrong.
Who knew Burl Ives in Holly Jolly Christmas wasn’t asking for a cup of beer? (makes way more sense than “cheer”
Here’s a tough one. Bing’s Mele Kalikemaka (do I get points for saying that correctly) However, it turns out that is not “The Wise Way” to say Merry Christmas to you.
And, finally, Brenda Lee and “Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree”. Could never figure out why she was so excited about that pie. “We’ll have some #@$%^’in’ pie!’ You can never unhear it after that.
What songs , especially Christmas tunes, do you mess up the words to?
