Bridgewater and Lunenburg select Deputy Mayors

Deputy Mayors were appointed at the most recent council meetings for both the Town of Lunenburg and the Town of Bridgewater.

In Lunenburg, there was only one nominee, former Mayor Rachel Bailey, and as a result, she was automatically appointed to the position.

In Bridgewater things were more contested with three councillors receiving nominations, including; Cheryl Fougere, Jennifer McDonald and Braden Newell.

Ultimately, McDonald who was voted to council for her second consecutive term won the vote for Deputy Mayor, with the votes being cast by members of council.

While Deputy Mayors will often be asked to do a variety of tasks they most commonly fill in when Mayors are unavailable doing things like leading council meetings and making public appearances.
