Bridgewater Fire Department hosting training exercise on LaHave River

The Bridgewater Fire Department is advising residents not to be alarmed if they see emergency crews active on the LaHave River this weekend.

A mutual aid training exercise is scheduled for Sunday, beginning around 1 p.m. near Shipyards Landing. Bridgewater Fire will be joined by three other fire departments for the drill.

The exercise will involve rescue boats, an empty vessel, and several mannequins in the water, giving crews a chance to practice response techniques in a real-world setting.

Officials say the training should last a few hours and will not affect recreational boaters on the river or those using Shipyards Landing park.
