Bridgewater Police Arrest Man, Weapons Charges Pending

On June 17th around 9:00 pm, the Bridgewater Police Service responded to several 911 calls regarding a disturbance involving weapons at a residence on Starr St in Bridgewater.

Upon arrival, officers located an adult male with serious but non-life-threatening injuries, who was transported by EHS to South Shore Regional Hospital for treatment.

BPS Sgt. Trevor Mitchell says the weapons used were not firearms “I can confirm that they were not firearms but rather weapons of opportunity.

A second adult male was arrested at the scene and is currently being held by the Bridgewater Police Service as the investigation continues. Sgt. Mitchell confirmed that the arrest went smoothly and was without incident.

Numerous Criminal Code charges are pending against a 51-year-old Lunenburg County male, his name has not been released at this point.

The Bridgewater Police Service is encouraging any witnesses to the event to please call the non-emergency line or Crime Stoppers.

Charges are expected to be laid later this afternoon at which point we will update this story.
