Bridgewater police have a few ideas on how everyone can have a safe and enjoyable Big Ex.
Chief Scott Feener says this is one of the busiest event of the year in the town.
Increased patrols to deal with crowds, manage traffic and ensure everyone is safe means no vacation time for their members this week.
“No holidays are granted for the exhibition week. It’s all hands on deck. Being a small service, it’s one of the things we need to do to take care of the citizens of the Town of Bridgewater and anybody visiting.”
Feener says police usually receive an increase of calls related to suspicious people, alcohol consumption and traffic accidents.
He also reminds attendees to be respectful of local businesses.
Chief Feener advises attendees to think about parking before heading to the Big Ex.
“Find appropriate parking, the Plaza is off limits for the exhibition. Property owners there have signs erected and security. Basically, look for the parking lots and streets where you’ll have the availability to park.”
The Chief advises people to plan ahead and protect yourself from the heat by drinking lots of water.
