A byelection will be held in the riding of Pictou West next month.
Premier Tim Houston has called for a vote to elect a new MLA on May 21.
It is required in order to fill the seat left vacant by Karla MacFarlane. She resigned at the end of the spring session of the legislature.
The Progressive Conservatives have held the riding since 2013 and prior to that it was held by the NDP’s Charlie Parker for a decade.
