Canada welcomes new Arctic patrol ship HMCS Max Bernays

The Royal Canadian Navy has a new patrol ship to sail the seas.

HMCS Max Bernays has been delivered to Canada. It’s the third of six new Arctic and Offshore Patrol Ships (AOPS) to join the fleet.

It was crafted in Halifax by Irving Shipbuilding.

The vessel will stay in our port until 2023 when it will head to its home on the West Coast.

The ships are outfitted with a thick and robust hull to bolster our presence in the Arctic.

They also have the capacity to transport cargo and allow for a Cyclone helicopter to hitch a ride.

Last month, Irving Shipbuilding officially began production on the sixth and final AOPS for the Royal Canadian Navy.
