The Canadian Dory Racing Association is hoping to get junior rowers for their upcoming competition.
There were no junior teams competing during the first leg of the International Dory Races last month in Gloucester, Massachusetts.
Qualifying for the second leg happens August 4 in Lunenburg.
President Robert Fox says they have a great training program.
“We have lots of dedicated racers that want to help out juniors. It’s a big part of our club that we’re missing right now. Once we get some juniors in place then hopefully they will progress through the years.”
The minimum age for youth is 12 and both junior male and female rowers are needed.
“It is a great opportunity. It is free for the juniors to join our club so it is kind of a no brainer. If you get to row internationally, it’s kind of that thing that you get hooked and can’t give it up.”
Monday nights are open to anyone who wants to try rowing a dory from 6:30 until 8 close to the Fisheries Museum in Lunenburg.
