Cash Makes Me Nervous

I know a lot of people are feeling the same, but cash makes me nervous these days. Who knows how many hands a bill has passed through and who all has touched it.

So when you’re out for a walk and find a ten dollar bill on the ground, what do you do?

First, I feel sorry for whoever may have dropped ten bucks. I wasn’t even sure I should go near it. But it’s ten bucks!

I walked around it, checking it out, making sure it wasn’t a trap. Then I very carefully picked it up, trying to touch it as little as possible.

I carefully carried it home, got inside, washed my hands, wiped the bill down with Lysol, washed my hands, repeated the process, and left the bill to dry.

Since when has finding money caused problems? It should be a time of joy, maybe even celebration. Sure, it’s only ten bucks, but ten bucks is ten bucks. But I still don’t want to touch it.

So I have a ten dollar bill sitting on my counter at home, air drying from it’s Lysol bath. It will probably sit there for a few days, maybe even get washed a few more times.

I used to like money. Funny how things change.
