I’m a bit concerned about one of my neighbours. I know the last year or so has been hard on all of us, but it just seems to have really taken a toll on him.
He seems harder. More set in his ways. A bit more concrete, as it were. Possibly because he is.
Doug hasn’t been around for a while. So it’s good to see him sitting on his front lawn reading the paper. Although it was a bit surprising to see him there.
At first, he was undercover. Just a tarp sitting there. Then I noticed it was a person. And not just any person. It was actually the person who at one time owned the house in front of which he sits. Although I can’t remember him spending much time sitting out by the street, it is nice to see him enjoying the day, reading his paper.
And there seems to be more surprises as time goes on. Last night I noticed that Doug is also a water feature. There is water that comes out the top of his umbrella and runs off the back and there seems to be plans to do something with that water.
A few people have mentioned how nice it is to see him sitting there. Although it is a bit disappointing that he is mostly grey. Doug had a habit of usually being quite colourfully dressed, so he seems a bit drab at the moment. But that’s okay. It’s otherwise an excellent likeness.
Just seeing him makes me smile.
Although I do have a question. How does Doug get his paper delivered right to his hands every day and I have to spend time digging around in the bushes looking for mine?
And if you enjoy things made out of concrete. go to Cosby’s Garden Centre for a walk through the sculpture garden. It’s well worth it.
