Chender speaks out on Poilievre’s changing room comments

Nova Scotia’s NDP leader is speaking out against federal Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre.

It’s over Poilievre’s statement that ‘biological males’ should be banned from women’s sports changing rooms and bathrooms.

Claudia Chender says Conservative governments across the country are creating a climate of fear and hatred.

“I think that it’s really scary. I think at the end of the day it’s important that we can all live, and be loved, and be safe,” said Chender.

She adds normally she doesn’t comment on federal politics, but all politicians must work together to build a safer future.

Chender says this kind of rhetoric harms trans and gender diverse people across the country.
