Chester’s Chandler Captures Second NS Women’s Amateur Title

A golfer from Chester has captured her second Nova Scotia Women’s Amateur Championship.

Allison Chandler shot a final round 80 at 14 Wing Greenwood Golf Club for a three-day total of 242, good enough for a two stroke victory.

The 21 year-old also won the provincial women’s amateur title in 2017.

Chandler, a junior at Gardner-Webb University in North Carolina, will be one of three women to represent Team Nova Scotia at the Canadian Women’s Amateur in Red Deer, Alberta from July 23-26.

Meanwhile at the MCT Men’s Amateur Golf Championship, Chandler’s brothers Mark and Matthew finished in 13th and 17th place, respectively.

Calvin Ross of New Brunswick won the title.

Jody Swim of Shelburne finished in a tie for third; eight shots back.

Aaron Nickerson of Clarks Harbour finished 11th and qualified for next month’s Canadian Men’s Amateur Championship at Glen Arbour Golf Club and Links of Brunello.
