Chester’s new Council to be sworn in and vote on leadership roles

The Municipality of Chester’s newly elected council will be sworn in tonight at 7 p.m. in council chambers.

Following the ceremony, council members will hold an internal vote to determine the municipality’s warden and deputy warden.

Longtime Councillor Allen Webber, who has represented District 4 since 1982, is among those set to take the oath. Webber has previously held the warden position eight times over his tenure. This year, he joins a mix of returning and newly elected council members as they prepare to tackle community priorities and issues facing Chester.

The new council members and their respective districts are as follows:

  • District 1: Andre Veinotte
  • District 2: Clarissa (Issie) Coolen
  • District 3: Tom Bremner
  • District 4: Allen Webber
  • District 5: Abdella Assaff (acclaimed)
  • District 6: Tina Connors (acclaimed)
  • District 7: Sharon Church
