Children’s Charity Announces New Executive Director

Kids Up Front Atlantic, a charitable organization providing kids access to arts, sports and recreation, has announced their new executive director Tuesday.

Scott Burke, known for his work with the Town of Lunenburg on the re-purposing of the Lunenburg Academy, theatre and performance work, was chosen as the organizations first executive director.

Burke says the charitable organization focuses on providing access to arts and recreation for kids and families with financial challenges, something that can inspire a child’s future.

“The opportunity to attend large-scale events, small theatre events or music events can spark their imagination,” he said.

“If they see something up on that stage or something is presented to them, you can really begin to see the wheels turning to a point where they say ‘I want to do this.'”

He says the organization also has the added benefit of helping events fill empty seats.

“It’s always difficult on everybody to have empty seats,” said Burke, “So the desire to be able to channel the need to fill some seats to a really great cause is just really near and dear to my heart.”

Burke says he hopes his past experience with theatre events, among other things, will help the organization open up more opportunities for kids and is looking forward to moving the organization forward.
