Churchill Wants New Health Funding Spent On Frontlines

Nova Scotia’s Liberal leader says healthcare dollars need to be used the right way.

Zach Churchill commenting on yesterday’s federal announcement of one billion dollars over 10 years in healthcare funding for the province.

He says the situation is urgent.

“Our emergency rooms are over-capacity and under-staffed. We have almost twice as many people without a family doctor than we did 16 months ago. These dollars can’t get into the system soon enough,” said Churchill.

He notes the front lines and improving patient care needs to be the top priority.

“We are really pushing the government to have those new dollars go into frontline services, so that patients get the support they need.”

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau was in Halifax yesterday, and announced the feds have signed a 10-year agreement in principle with the province.
