We’ve got heat warnings for the next couple of days and I know we’ll all be looking to cool off.
Leaving out pools, when you really need to beat the heat with a dip in the water, do you go for the lake or the ocean?
I grew up on lakes. Dartmouth, the City Of Lakes used to have thirty some within the city boundaries. There were three lakes within a ten minute walk from my family home.
The “swimming hole” was where we would meet daily during the long hot days of summer when we were teens.
So you might be surprised when you hear that my answer is the ocean.
Sure, it’s early June in Nova Scotia and I know how cold the ocean water can be, but who says you have to get in up to your neck?
When I really need to cool off, I just have to wade in the ocean up to my knees while watching my lower extremities turn blue and I’m cooled off for several hours.
That’s how long it takes for the feeling to come back in my legs. So it’s the ocean for the win!
How about you? Lake or ocean?
