Dalhousie University and the Dalhousie Faculty Association have agreed to conciliation talks amid a lockout and defensive strike.
Conciliation officer Rick Rose asked both sides to return, Wednesday night.
Catherine Wall, communications officer for the Dalhousie Faculty Association, confirmed that news Thursday morning.
She said she “welcomes the opportunity to bargain.”
The Board of Governor’s has also agreed to more negotiations.
In an email to our newsroom the university says it “welcomes the opportunity” to continue working to resolve the labour dispute.
The Board also suggests meeting earlier if possible.
The university locked out the DFA on Aug. 20, and the union went on strike Aug. 22.
The DFA wants better wages, but they also want better working conditions, including better contracts, more access to the campus daycare, and leave for Indigenous people.
