The Dalhousie Faculty Association (DFA) and the Board of Governors are heading back to the table, Monday evening.
That’s according to a post on social media from the university.
The two sides have been at odds for weeks as the union fights for wages, benefits and a return-to-work policy.
Sunday evening the DFA was urging the Board to accept their latest proposal, saying it is difficult to accept the Board’s argument that the proposal is unaffordable, considering the $10 million faculty have lost from salary during the lockout.
The union is also calling on Dalhousie President Kim Brooks to press the Board to authorize a settlement.
Meanwhile, a petition has been circulating online calling for Brooks to resign.
Some who have signed the petition, accuse the university of damaging its reputation, disrespecting faculty, and undermining student learning.
The petition points to Dalhousie’s own strategic plan, arguing that the lockout runs counter to commitments to provide a transformative learning experience and foster a welcoming, supportive culture.
Staff have been locked out since August 20.
