The MLA for Dartmouth South will soon take the reigns of Nova Scotia’s NDP.
Claudia Chender was the only candidate for the party leadership after the nomination deadline passed on Saturday.
She was first elected in 2017 and was a strong candidate for the role out of the gate.
It will become official at the party’s convention in June.
Current leader Gary Burrill announced his decision to step aside in the fall.
