Deadline to apply for wildfire relief funding coming soon

If you’re one of the thousands of Nova Scotians impacted by last month’s wildfires, the deadline to apply for emergency relief funding is fast approaching.

Evacuees have until this Friday, July 7th, to apply for a one-time payment of 500 dollars. So far, the government has distributed nearly 4 million dollars in funding to Nova Scotians in need.

The provincial government’s Emergency Funding program is administered by the Canadian Red Cross.

Only one application can be accepted per household. Any household that has not yet applied can do so only between 12 noon and 7 p.m. AT today and tomorrow (June 29-30) or next Tuesday to Friday (July 4-7) by calling 1-800-863-6582 or visiting Red Cross teams at the HRM 4-Pad complex on Gary Martin Drive in Bedford, the Community Centre on King Street in Shelburne, or the Municipal Administrative Building at 2447 Highway 3 in Barrington.
