Deadline to nominate candidates for Preston by-election is close

Nominations for the Preston by-election are about to close, and when they do, the province will roll out it’s first ever e-balloting system.

The deadline to nominate a candidate is tomorrow, July 19th, at 2 p.m. Up until now, residents who wish to cast their votes early had to do so via traditional write in ballots at the official returning office. When tomorrow’s nomination deadline arrives, you’ll still have to vote in person, but the e-balloting system will make it much easier and faster for the votes to be counted on election night. Meaning we should know the results much sooner.

The current candidates for the by-election are Twila Grosse, representing the PC Party of Nova Scotia, Carlo Simmons, representing the Liberals, and Colter Simmonds, representing the NDP.

Recently, the PCs have come under fire for releasing partisan ads.

Election day is August 8th.
