d’Entremont: Canadians want an election

A Conservative MP thinks Justin Trudeau’s resignation is exciting, but disappointing at the same time.

West Nova’s Chris d’Entremont says Canadians have been asking for an election, not a Liberal leadership race.

“We’re going to see a Liberal party vote for a replacement Prime Minister, that will be temporary. This is just a diversion,” said d’Entremont.

He adds it’s a positive that Trudeau is gone, as he was the target of many of the country’s problems.

But choosing a new leader is just pushing those problems further into the Spring.

He says his parties’ chances in the next election are very good, and there will be a lot of work to be done.
