Digby County fire still burning, no longer spreading

A forest fire in Digby County is no longer spreading.

The blaze in Hassett grew to 111 hectares yesterday.

The Department of Natural Resources says 26 staff, 47 volunteer firefighters and two helicopters battled the fire until dark.

Crews will be back on scene this morning.

On Monday, some folks left their homes in the area voluntarily.

The Havelock Wesleyan Church is being used as a comfort centre, as well as a command centre for operations.
