UPDATE: Digby County wildfire grows to 80 hectares

A forest fire in Digby County expanded overnight.

It’s now 80 hectares in size, according to the Department of Natural Resources.

They say they’re working to get the blaze in Hassett under control.

10 DNRR firefighters were onsite this morning, and 15 more are coming in to help.

A helicopter continues to pour water on the fire.

The department says there were voluntary evacuations in the Hassett area yesterday.

RCMP say a section of Highway 340 remains closed.

The Havelock Wesleyan Church has been set up as a comfort centre for those in need.
