Does That Seal Have A Hat On!???

It’s far from unusual to see a seal in our waters. They can be very curious creatures and often like to see what’s going on in a boat or along the shore. It’s less likely to see one wearing any accessories, but there are some exceptions!

The Université de Sherbrooke in Quebec and DFO have been conducting research on the behavior and movements of seals. To do this, the animals need to be tagged. The tag resembles a small hat. It’s really quite cute! The tags are made from biodegradable plastic and are not permanent. They will help researchers with conservation efforts in the future!

DFO says that people should report if they see any seals wearing these tags! Find the contact info in the post below!
