Dressing Your Pets

I will admit, I do not put my pets in costumes for Halloween. Many do. Some of them look pretty cute all dressed up. Although there is also a large number that seem to be plotting their revenge, just from the look on their faces.

Now we have two black cats around the house. They really don’t need Halloween costumes. Theirs are sort of built in. But they also will not play along with the whole Halloween thing. Sit on a jack-o-lantern all night? No way. Cats make lousy home decorations. Unless you need to create a display with everything knocked onto the floor.

My dog, who enjoys wearing things around her neck, doesn’t like most other things on her. We’ve tried her at Christmas with antlers on her head. Nope. Not happening. And if you try to get her into a shirt or some sort of costume, she is not playing along.

I think costumes on animals look pretty cute. But most of the time the animals look like they do not enjoy it. In fact, many of them have looks on their faces like they would like to remove some some of your body parts if they had a chance. Or maybe leave a small gift in one of your shoes.

Maybe some of them are really into the whole dressing up thing. I know my dog wears a neckerchief most of the time and seems to want it on. If she doesn’t have one, it seems like she misses it and will willingly come over to get one put around her neck. But the same is not always true for other clothing items.

So because I like to keep all my various body parts attached, I don’t try to force my pets into costumes. They don’t seem to be into it. I’ll respect their wishes.
