The province’s education minister is hoping teachers won’t take job action.
Becky Druhan says negotiations on a new collective agreement are scheduled to continue this month.
She says labour action is a part of bargaining, but students and families are best served with no more interruptions to education.
“The last five years have been challenging in the school system for everyone, students educators and families,” said Druhan.
Druhan says they’ve been working hard to be responsive to teachers and school staff.
“To support the investments and changes that we need to improve the educational experience.”
Nova Scotia Teachers Union members will hold a strike vote on April 11.
Teachers have said they’re fed up with classroom conditions, a teacher shortage and school-based violence, among other things.
The Halifax local union will hold a rally on April 10 in Lower Sackville.
