Eating Healthy’s Expensive ! Except for Oopsie Bread!

I never knew how expensive it was to eat healthy. No idea! I started a “no carb” diet a couple of weeks ago and the hardest thing was to give up bread and potatoes. I had a really tough time the first week until someone told me about “Cloud Bread” or “Oopsie Bread” This stuff has been a lifesaver. The first batch we made with just egg whites and didn’t have the mascarpone cheese. It was ok, but really did’t taste that good. Then I went to get some Mascarpone cheese. The stuff is just very creamy Italian cream cheese. It was 12 bucks on sale for a tiny little half-sized container. I swore I wasn’t paying that kind of money again for cream cheese and then I discovered a substitute recipe for mascarpone, you just take cream cheese and add whipping cream. Much cheaper. Now I’m enjoying my pseudo bread with every meal. And there are no carbs!

This diet also tries to cut out all sugars, so there are just a few fruits and veggies you can have. Watermelon, Canteloupe, Berries, Star Fruit, Avocados – my grocery bill has doubled! Shouldn’t it be the other way around, the unhealthy eating should be expensive and the healthy eating should be very reasonable?

What foods did have no idea were so expensive until you started eating healthy?
