When you get right down to it, there are a lot of creatures I really find fascinating, but I am quite content to let others interact with.
This is a list that would include things like dinosaurs. I know they no longer exist, but even if they did, I would not be first in line to go visit one. I’ll watch from a distance, thanks.
There are several creatures that do still exist that make me feel the same. Love them… from a distance. Like bears. Bears seem to be pretty cool animals, but I still don’t have a desire to be best buds with one. If a bear called me and asked me to go dumpster diving with him, I’d be honoured, but I’m still not going.
Sharks would also fall in this category. I find the fascinating. These things have been around for millions of years. I’ sure they’re very nice, but I’ll keep my distance. Which is why I like to check out what people like the Ocearch team are up to.
They are back once again, looking for white sharks. Most of us weren’t really aware that we had a lot of white sharks around here. We knew there were sharks of various types, but not a lot of white sharks.
But there are a few off our shoreline. They’ve possibly been there for years and we didn’t even know it, but now it’s easier to find them. You can just look at the map and see where they last pinged… seeing as how a few have been equipped with trackers.
The caught a new one yesterday off Cape Breton that was given the name Breton. I also noticed they were looking for a few good shark names. There have been a few good suggestions, but if you have some, send them off to the Ocearch team.
I enjoy reading about these creatures, and I love to watch them… online or on TV. I’m happy not to be doing their job though. There are a lot of storms running around out in that ocean. Big waves and big fish with big teeth are not really things I want to see close up. But it’s still pretty cool to follow.
