Feed Nova Scotia received a significant boost recently thanks in part to High Liner Foods.
The two teamed up to host a one day push for donations with up to $10,000 being matched by the Lunenburg company.
Director of development and communication with Feed Nova Scotia, Karen Theriault, says they raised over $80,000.
“The community really rallied together and took hold of this opportunity that High Liner Foods had given us. We couldn’t of asked for any more generosity.”
Some of those donations will come back to the 10 agencies and food banks located in the South Shore.
You've done it again and we couldn't be more thrilled with the outpouring of your support! Yesterday, through the generosity of High Liner Foods and our incredible community, we raised enough funds to provide over 120,000 meals worth of donated food! pic.twitter.com/1pMwSFKAhD

Theriault says donations tend to slow through the summer but there is always a need.
“This is enough for us to distribute over 120,000 meals worth of food. Every time someone picked up the phone or went online to donate, they are literally helping to put food on the tables of people who need a little bit of help.”
Theriault says one in every six Nova Scotia households struggle year-round to put food on their tables.
