Fire Causes Smoke and Water Damage to Lunenburg Home

Fire has left a single-storey bungalow in Lunenburg with smoke and water damage.

Firefighters were called to the scene on Broad Street around 9:45 p.m Monday.

Chief Darren Romkey says smoke was coming from the home when they arrived on scene.

“We could see in the window where the fire was. We got in quick and knocked it down and confined the fire really to just one room, but with some smoke and water damage throughout the house.”

“It shouldn’t have to be torn down. It was confined to one room, looked like it may have been a den,” says Romkey.

“That was charred up pretty good but structurally the house is still in great shape.”

The lone resident of the home and their two dogs were able to escape uninjured.

She was assessed by paramedics.

Romkey says the cause is accidental and the home will need some repairs.

Firefighters from Blockhouse were also called to the scene.
