Flower Time

I like to see flowers. I’m not really a flower gardener. That would fall to others in the family. But I do like to look at what’s around me. And this is a pretty good time of year to find flowers.

Not long ago I went in search of mayflowers. It is our provincial flower, and I had heard people saying they had found some. I found a few too. However, they day I decided to look for mayflowers we got a wee touch of snow. Not much, but enough to make it hard to spot mayflowers. I found a few, but they didn’t seem to be happy mayflowers.

Now there seem to be a lot of various wild flowers around as things have warmed up a bit. Lots of wild violets appearing in various places. And the trillium seem to be growing well this year. They may be the provincial flower of Ontario, but they grow very well around these parts. And I love to see them.

I have yet to come across any lady slippers, although they should be along shortly. I happen to know an area where I can usually find a few white one, which are nice. I have heard of yellow lady slippers around this area, but I haven’t seen any for myself yet. One of these days I may have to go searching for them.

There are many more wild flowers that are starting to appear. It’s fun to go out and see what you can find that might be blooming. And try to avoid the ticks. That’s always a fun part of the game.
