Hunger and food security affects people in our communities and the pandemic has made this an even bigger issue.
In response to this Feed Nova Scotia launched a short-term initiative on May 25 to help; the COVID-19 Food Box Program.
Director of Development and Communications for Feed Nova Scotia Karen Theriault, said that at the beginning of the pandemic they were hearing from a lot of people who were either afraid to go to the food bank or didn’t have a way to get there.
“This program was designed to provide food support through home delivery for any individual or households who aren’t able to access food banks or other types of food support programs-it’s intended to fill that gap,” she said.
Each food box contains seven days worth of non-perishable food, one person can receive two boxes and more than two people can receive four boxes.
