Forest Nova Scotia is giving away 10K seedlings

A local organization is giving away thousands of seedlings to help our province’s forests.

Forest Nova Scotia says their third annual Our Trees campaign begins this week.

They will be giving away 10,000 seedlings this fall and have given away 36,000 seedlings in total so far.

Forest Nova Scotia says, each seedling helps eliminate carbon from our atmosphere to supply clean air and facilitate water evaporation to alleviate flood risks.

“Nova Scotia’s forestry sector is focused on the long-term sustainability of our forests,” says Todd Burgess, Executive Director. “The Our Trees campaign is a way for Nova Scotians to join us in these efforts while creating memories with their family planting and nurturing the growth of the seedling.”

Upcoming seedling giveaways include:

● Fairview/Clayton Park (Halifax) – September 18, 2025
● Truro Stampede – September 19, 2025
● Truro Farmers’ Market – September 20, 2025
● Antigonish Farmers’ Market – September 20, 2025
● Sydney, Cape Breton Farmers’ Market – September 27, 2025
● Woodlot Owner of the Year – October 4, 2025
● Wolfville Farmers’ Market – October 18, 2025
