Former Scouts leader charged with historical sex offences

A former Scout Master has been charged with historical sexual offences from 50 years ago.

Colchester County District RCMP say it was in October when they received a report of historical sexual assaults from when the victim was a youth.

Then a second victim was identified.

They were scouts at the Valley Baptist Church and went to weekly Scouts Night between 1970 and 1976.

An 81-year-old man was arrested May 30 and is now facing five counts of indecent assault and five counts of gross indecency.

The suspect has been released on conditions and is scheduled to appear in Truro court, June 16.

The investigation is being led by the Colchester Community Action Team, Special Victims Unit and investigators believe there may be additional victims.

If you are a victim or have any information related to these incidents, please contact the Colchester County District RCMP at 902-893-6820.
