Former monk a Cape Breton monastery pleads guilty to voyeurism

A Florida man who used to be the head monk at a Cape Breton Monastery has pleaded guilty to voyeurism.

The charges stem from incidents that took place at the Gampo Abbey Monastery in Pleasant Bay between December 2020 and November 2021.

The man had placed a camera in the showers at the monastery and was unlawfully recording and observing people in circumstances in which privacy is expected.

He will be sentenced on November 7th in Port Hawkesbury provincial court.
