Some days it may have seemed we would never get to the end, but it seems to be almost within reach now.
Phase 4 starts tomorrow. It’s only one phase from the end, but there are still a few limits. But more things will be opening up and gathering limits will be getting larger.
We’re not talking gathering with a few thousand of your closest friends just yet, but some larger gatherings will be permitted. Like informal outdoor gatherings of up to 50 people will be allowed. I’m not sure when was the last time I saw 50 people gathered in one spot. Probably close to two years ago. I know there will be some people who dip a toe in cautiously, while other dive in. Some of us will just take a bit longer.
Bars and restaurants will be able to open more fully. There will still be restrictions, but not as much as we have seen recently.
Hopefully our cautious approach will keep us from seeing any sort of resurgence of cases that some other places have been seeing lately.
The next phase hopefully won’t be too long in coming, but that one depends on us. They want 75 % of the province fully vaccinated before we get there, so we still have a ways to go. I believe we’re around 46 % at the moment. Hopefully, more people continue to get vaccinated and we get things opened up sooner.
With any luck, by next summer a lot of those events we’ve been missing will be able to return. We’re already seeing smaller versions starting to pop up. Hopefully, not much longer.
